I’m building an autonomous, GPS-guided robot called the Smart-Spreader that takes the guesswork out of winter maintenance. Basically, it's a high-tech salter that uses an Arduino brain and a custom-designed auger to make sure school walkways stay safe and ice-free without dumping a ton of extra salt into the environment.
Blue Heeler Innovations is a collaborative venture dedicated to revolutionizing winter maintenance through autonomous technology. Founded by a dedicated team with backgrounds in Education and CNC design, our mission is to provide safe, GPS-guided solutions for local schools and public spaces in Cambridge—using my CNC to cut the frame and 3D printing the internal parts—to show that we can use local innovation to solve a really common Ontario problem."
The Tech: It’s a "smart" robot that knows exactly where it is and exactly how much salt to drop so nothing gets wasted.
The Goal: It makes schools safer for kids and staff while protecting our local water and plants from salt damage.
The Build: It's a local project combining robotics and specialized manufacturing right here in town.
